On my opinion, opennet is important yes. But it's not the most important at this moment. Actually it's very easy to find peers on #freenet-refs (the most difficult thing is to find stable peers), and adding a peers don't need a big effort (just copy past...). Actually I think that the most important problem is the insert resume. The insert is very slow, and we cannot stop the node during the insert... If the node crash, the insert failed. This is a realy urgent problem. There is no utility on opennet if you can't insert files... User are searching for content. Some user wan't to insert content, but actually this is very hard. Inserting freesite with pure HTML made that maintaining this site very boring, or making some interesting site is very difficult. And freesite are not the only thing that people are searching on freenet. If the insert speed can't be change for the moment, a resume system can be good. The others problem is to easy find information. Actually it's not easy and boring to manage a freesite index (manual search, manual update, static content, etc). We need some automatic software who find files and freesite on frost and freesite and publish easy to use index. I have worked on a spider (darknet spider) with dongy. But this made a long time that I don't see dongy, and my level on devel is very bad. I will try ton continu to advance, but I don't have a lot of time actually. On my opinion, it's most important to work on insert resume, or informations retrieving that opennet... Don't waste time with opennet on a alpha software. sich
