Actually it does: -f, -e options. But it reads no configuration file
by design, which is potentially a fair argument against it in base.

This would also apply to xterm; remote box must have xterminfo.

To each their own. I use st because of missing features ☺

Anyhow, if you prefer xterm in base, so be it.
