Hey,
one of the greater drawbacks for the 'not so technical'

Does Bitrig have plans to write/port a GUI wifi/wlan manager
into its project?

There is so called wpa_gui app, which is a part of wpa_supplicant
project. It used to work well under FreeBSD without any modifications.
Maybe someone can try to compile it for Bitrig as well -- it uses Qt as
X11 abstraction library and should just work.
