I am trying to undo the source/destination style of labeling because
they don't apply to reality in *my* sitation.
While working on the process I offhandly mentioned it to a friend and
he made a darned good suggestion (for me) that I think I should share
in this case.
All my cables will have one of those very permanent cable labels with
an identifying serial number at both ends. Maybe even more in the
middle if it's a long cable.
The suggestion was to get the "snap on" cable labeling things and put
the source/destination on the movable label to allow for easy
adjustments without having to undo the entire permanent label thing.
