The add ons available from this page downloaded  and installed fine.
For reference now what needs to happen from the previous page you listed is
to download the package but do not extract the zip file.
This zip file extension needs to be replaced with nvda-addon- 
The NVDA Add On Manager will then recognise the file and install it.
This step is unnecessary with the add ons downloaded from the official page
as they already have the appropriate extension.

I have installed the virtualisation add on, which works fine, the system
tray list add on which also works fine. I will be testing the OCR add on
soon.
This is potentially a very powerful extra feature in NVDA.
