There are Mylar capacitors that go to the base of the
regulators. I have found some to have decreased in value or
be leaky. Second is a VDR that goes to the standby
transformer and may or may not have a low value resistor in
series with VDR - replace both as they supply the voltage (
12-15 VDC ) for the regulator circuit to work. Be sure the
Driver Transformer for the Horiz Out transistor has been
resoldered.
  Foremost of all , for that size of set - original real
McCoys from Sony will hold up ; others simply will not from
bitter experience.
  If that was the ONLY problem ; put a MOV 150 VAC and
biggest disc one you can find across the AC Line AFTER the
fuse ; this protects your job. I did not do that on one I
had and it came back and I put it in then and it did not
come back. Never mind the fact it already has one - put one
of your own in unless you don't mind doing it over and over
again !
