Pioneer

Service Menu

To Enter Service Mode
Look for a poke hole, center of the customer door. Poke to enter/Poke to exit
and save.
Pioneer has a bad habit of changing their convergence menus access. Sometimes
it was mute,
recall and other times it was mute chan return. It always started with the
little poke
hole.

Convergence procedures on Pioneer 6 series set.
Centered behind the front door is a poke hole. Use a toothpick or similar
object to poke
the switch once to enter service mode. The mute button will cycle through to a
screen that
says Static convergence. The adjust key on the remote will change the value of
the
parameter you are working with. The Chan recall button will cycle through Red
and Blue
Horizontal and Vertical adjustments. Green is still done with pots on the
convergence
board.

The number keys change the items adjusted and some, but not all, have multiple
functions
that will cycle through when pressed multiple times. The on screen display will
give you
some indication of what you are changing. For instance 1 sets the skew and 2
the bow and
so forth.

It has been my experience that if there is a distortion on one side of the
picture, say
for instance pin, use the appropriate sub control to make the distortion equal
on both
sides and use the main pin to take both distortions out at the same time.

When you are finished use the poke hole button to exit and save.

On the 7 series you have to push Standard AV Mem before mute.

In the 8 series set the procedure is similar but the color is changed by the
Channel
up/down and value is changed by the Volume up/down.

It is rather important that before any convergence procedure is done on sets
with
multipoint convergence you zero out the customer settings. This is done by
accessing the
customer convergence menu. Go past the center cross and you will be given an
option to go
to multi point. Select it and then select one of the attention 9 attention
points. Press
recall on the front of the TV. That will reset any customer correction for that
screen
size. For sets with more that one screen size do the above procedure for each
mode.

The above applies to 9 series and higher including the pro700 HDTV models. It
is important
that you are not fighting customer adjustments when converging.

In the "A" series set I believe the only difference is pressing mute several
times to
enter convergence. Remember you must converge normal and cinema wide separately
by
pressing the wide or zoom button on the remote. Exit is the same as always.

The PRO630 is a 630 HD series set and is not like PRO610 or PRO700. The menu is
accessed
the same way on the 630 and getting into course adjustments is the same.
Pressing the menu
button will cycle you through the choice screens. An HD generator is not needed
on the 630
but you must use the format button to change between 480P and 1080i.

For the convergence menu in some sets:

First go into the customer convergence menu, press recall. This will reset the
customer
conv. adjustments.
Try pressing Mute, AV, Standard, Mute
Or-- Try pressing Mute, Mute, Mute

Once in the convergence menu, Channel changes color and Volume changes value.
OR--Recall on remote changes color and adjust up/down changes setting.
Reports say this can change from model to model
