[techtalk] Modem issues

        Hi!

        I'm new to the list (as well to Linux admin), so here goes:

        I've beentrying to configure a USR/3Com Courier V.Everything
  modem (external). The system seems to be finding it just fine, but 
  the modem won't respond to commands (ATZ, ATDT, etc.). I don't know
  if it needs some kind of driver, and if it does, where to get it.

        Any help is appreciated.
