Just so everyone knows what's up, here's a quick rundown of stuff that is currently being worked on for the OSWG -- 1. Creation of an [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list. The new list will be a replacement of this list. Announcements will be posted when the new list is available, and there will be many many warnings before this list is officially deprecated and shutdown. 2. Creation of an [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list. This list will be there for folks who want to know what's going on but don't want to deal with the daily discussions on the "oswg-discuss" list. Announcements will be posted when it's available. 3. Creation of an [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list. This list will be for folks who want to submit docs into the OSWG documentation set, but who don't want to mess with all that finicky CVS stuff. Naturally, submitting docs this way will cause a bit of lag between the time they are submitted and the time they make it into the CVS, but hopefully that lag will be as minimal as possible. In an effort to minimize the lag, we're looking for people who know how to do the whole "cvs-thing" and would be willing to check in docs that are submitted to the "oswg-submit" list. When the list is available, it will be announced, and volunteers will be actively sought at that point. If you think you might be interested in helping with this aspect of things, contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] to get a cvs account set up and/or send a note to [EMAIL PROTECTED] 4. Creation of an [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list. Email will be sent to this list by the CVS system whenever something new is committed to the tree. That's all it's for. This way, people who are interested in the CVS activity will be automatically informed when stuff happens. 5. Setup of scripts that will automagically generate all possible documentation formats from the SGML docs that are in the OSWG CVS tree. This should be set up and running shortly, but there are no guarantees of an actual date at this point, because everyone is hip-deep in other things at the moment. It will be done as soon as possible. If you know how to do this sort of thing and are interested in helping out, send a note to [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I'll get an account on the server set up for you. 6. More CVS information is being written for the website, including a more complete mini-guide, and an explanation of the CVS tree (largely based on Nik Clayton's explanation of the FDP CVS Tree (Nik, thanks a million for that, btw)). 7. I'm writing up the results of the licensing discussion we've had here over the past couple of days. I'll post it for your perusal ASAP. I think we've come to a fairly acceptable agreement on this, but I want to quadruple-check before we commit to anything. 8. Creation of archival systems for all of the new mailing lists mentioned above. I might have forgotten something, but that's the major "in-progress" project-related stuff. If anyone would like to help out in any way, shape, or form, or if anyone has any suggestions/comments/questions, please let us know. There's a pile of stuff that needs doing, and the more we share the load, the better it is for everyone :) - deb -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
