Introduction The Contracted Oracle Data Architect will evaluate, design and manage database systems in a web based environment. The Contracted Oracle Data Architect will provide database and professional leadership to internal and / or external project team staff to analyze requirements and define specifications for database access, structure, functional capabilities, documentation, security, backup and recovery. The Contracted Oracle Data Architect will perform validation checks, maintain database dictionaries and coordinate the installation of new and revised database systems. This position requires thorough knowledge of relational database systems, Structured Query Language (SQL) and a working knowledge of referential integrity, triggers and stored procedures. Business Objectives and Technical Objectives Position specifics include: . Design and implement a capacity testing and performance and tuning strategy for projects using existing methodology; . Provide the database structure and mechanisms to optimally impact the performance and tuning and capacity planning of projects; . Interact with PMO Project Managers and Technical Operations staff as required to support the capacity testing and performance tuning efforts; . Install, configure, and support(maintain) Oracle 9i/10g/11g Database Server; . Install, configure, and support(maintain) Oracle 9i/10g/11g Application Server; . Lead Database and Application Server Sizing (capacity planning) activities; . Lead, support HP-Unix server administration support, shell scripting activities; . Where appropriate take responsibility for transferring expertise to existing DBAs in the usage of Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i/10g/11g to identify and solve performance problems; . Lead database development efforts from design through production installation providing documentation where applicable for each phase of the full lifecycle development process on each assigned project; . Communicate well with users, application specialists, developers, technical infrastructure staff and project management; . Interact effectively (verbally, written, etc.) with users, vendors and management to ensure the delivery and use of the Oracle 9i/10g/11g database technology and tools is consistent with agreed upon project goals; . Provide evaluation for data warehouse technology and associated data products; and . Ability to provide on-call support as required. Contracted Oracle Data Architect Qualifications . Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in information systems, computer science, engineering or related field . Certified Oracle Master or an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification . Extensive experience in installation, configuration and maintenance of Oracle 9i/10g/11g Database Server. . Extensive experience testing, troubleshooting and tuning Oracle 9i/10g databases for scalable environments . Extensive experience in HP-Unix server administration and shell scripting . Minimum of ten (10) years demonstrated database administration experience with the following focus o Oracle 9i/10g/11g o Unix - HP UX . Extensive experience in logical and physical database design, architecture and implementation efforts, performance tuning, data modeling and capacity planning on projects for large mission critical and 24x7 enterprise applications . Demonstrated experience developing and utilizing performance tuning for query and server optimization . Minimum of five (5) years experience working with Oracle in a data warehouse environment . Extensive experience utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g/11g to identify, troubleshoot and resolve performance problems utilizing the Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM) . Experience implementing and tuning Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) . Experience/Knowledge in installation, configuration and maintenance of Oracle Application Server 9i/10g . Experience in automated load/stress testing for database and application server sizing. . Familiarity with Redhat Linux, HP OpenView and Microsoft Windows at a systems administrative level . Demonstrated experience working with Oracle in a SAN environment (preferably EMC) . Minimum of ten (10) years demonstrated progressive experience coding and PL/SQL . Minimum of ten (10) years demonstrated progressive experience tuning Oracle databases . Solid interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with people of all levels of information technology expertise and comfort in varied organizational relationships . Work experience on projects with federal, state or local government branches, in the area of criminal justice and intelligence is preferred.
