The Senior HFE ensures that a user-focused, high performance, high
commitment environment is developed and maintained. Senior HFEs are
responsible for innovative information organization structures,
interaction designs, page-level content organization, navigation, and
prototypes of systems. They work as chief user advocates on each project
team. They are responsible for promoting user needs within an overall
structure deliverables that integrates the recommendations of the
project team regarding user experience. The Senior role is achieved when
an employee demonstrates superior analytic skills. Having also
demonstrated an ability to translate business and user requirements into
a workable, efficient solution. 

 

Required Skills: 

Degree in HCI, Human Factors or related discipline. Advanced degree in
research-based behavioural science discipline OR at least 5-7 years
relevant experience. Expertise in usability testing methodologies and
user-centred design. Exceptional analytical skills. Exceptional writing
skills. Strong abilities to synthesize many data into coherent
information design direction. 3 years experience (minimum) in
information architecture/user interface design. Relevant application
(Visio, PowerPoint, Illustrator, etc.) and design process expertise.
Developed approach to user-centred design methodology. 3 years of
Web-related experience - working on Web/software/multimedia development
teams. Strong client interaction/negotiation skills

 

UCD skills: - education and 5+ years experience in user research, as
shown by having carried out e.g. field studies, contextual interviews,
mental modeling, affinity diagrams, translating user data into
wireframes and interaction designs, card sorting, etc. - excellent
presentation skills, knowing how to present user research results in a
captivating way, driving product and design decisions. - experience with
scientific information or large content-driven products is a big plus -
visual design skills are a big plus - at least a basic understanding of
the possibilities and limitations of web technology. Other requirements:
- A drive for wanting to build products from the user's point of view. -
Ability to work on projects with minimal assistance from fellow team
members. - Ability to work and communicate pro-actively with
researchers, business owners, higher management, product managers and
project managers. Comfortable with working across cultures and time
zones. - Good listener and communicator, self-reliant, creative
out-of-the-box thinking and used to taking initiatives
