Senior Telecommunications Engineer Location: Minneapolis, MN Length: 6+ Months KEY EXPERIENCE: CCNP Functional Responsibilities * Position is to provide Network Engineering services in support of Major VerizonBusiness IP Managed Services Customer. * Requires advanced knowledge in technology, to include design and architecture of multiple platforms for WAN, LAN, WLAN and IPT, and diverse skills to perform complex engineering for the Managed Service Customer Engineering organization and a broad knowledge of overall VerizonBusiness Operations and Technology. * Position requires independent thinking, and demands full use and application of principles, theories and concepts in IP technologies. Minimum Qualifications: * Requires a BS degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology) or Masters Degree and a minimum of 9 years experience in technology disciplines. * CCNP required, minimum. * Thorough Cisco knowledge with IP network architecture and design disciplines, operational support familiarity, previous and current extensive hands-on implementation, thorough configuration knowledge and capabilities for all platform levels. * Very Strong customer interfacing background, as well as superior oral and written communication skills. * Extensive technical writing skills are a requirement. Work closely with VzB sales teams and customers in meeting the IP technology requirements for the VerizonBusiness customer. * Juniper and Aruba Wireless background and knowledge helpful. In depth knowledge of all Cisco protocols (i.e. BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, GLBP, VSRP, VRF). Transport/Provisioning (i.e. Private IP (MPLS), VoIP, IPVPN, IP Telephony, and IP PBX, ISP, Broadband). * Strong understanding and familiarity with Network Security (FW, IDS, IPS, DOS) and platforms. * Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects/activities concurrently. * Disciplined and oriented in practice of and adherence too process and procedures. Additional Qualifications (Additional qualifications to the minimum based on the specific needs of the requisition.): * Cisco CCIE Certification. * Key attributes include the ability to research technical issues and develop solutions, strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills, and good organizational skills. * Must be achievement orientated and possess problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical thinking. * Capable of working on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. * Capable of exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
