Vignette Software Architect 

Long-term

Description: 

·        As the Vignette Software Architect for the School's Web team, you will 
define and implement a scalable robust web architecture based on Vignette and 
utilizing the following modules: 

o       Vignette Content Management 7.5

o       Vignette Content Management Advanced

o       Vignette Dynamic Portal Module 7.5

o       Vignette Portal 7.3

·        In this role you will develop standards and roadmaps, technical 
specifications, as well as functioning code and markup templates. 

·        You will be responsible for analyzing user requirements, procedures, 
and problems to translate into implementable solutions based on the Vignette 
platform. 

·        Conferring with internal customers/ business units to analyze web 
requirements and information needs. 

·        Create detailed requirements, stories and use cases, design and 
develop approaches for configuring and, where necessary, extending Vignette 
applications. 

·        Write code and develops templates. 

·        Remain current on Vignette capabilities, with a goal of leveraging 
out-of-the-box Vignette capabilities. 

·        Develop new portlets to improve production and work flow as required. 

·        Responsible for Vignette VCM configuration, CTD creation, workflow, 
user administration, and Vignette portal configuration. 

·        Will deploy weblogic systems and be responsible for the administration 
of such systems. 

·        Responsible for content database architecture, and organization of the 
overall content repository. 

·        Will analyze user requirements and abstract these into reusable 
templates and components. 

 

Basic Qualifications

 

Requires 5+ yrs experience developing enterprise-class, dynamic web experiences 
with full life-cycle exposure.

 

·        Requires solid understanding of all aspects of the creation of 
dynamically driven web sites leveraging atomic content management. 

·        Must have deep understanding of software architecture, functional 
(analysis, modeling), non-functional (usability, performance, scalability, 
availability, security). 

·        Must be proficient in object-oriented design, mark-up design, 
application architecture, Vignette, Enterprise Java and Web Technologies (HTML, 
XML, CSS). 

·        Also requires experience interacting with Application Server 
(Weblogic), RDBMS (Oracle), Directory (LDAP) and other enterprise systems. 

·        Requires strong familiarity with architecture best practices for 
Vignette development, design patterns and the ability to drive them into 
software development. 

·        Must have proven track record of technical leadership with ability to 
influence without authority combined with excellent communication skills and a 
passion for innovation. 

·        Must be a strong communicator with business, design and engineering 
professionals providing knowledge and mentoring to other members of the 
community. 

·        Must be a key player on a highly creative team utilizing an Agile 
project/software development life cycle. 

·        Requires ability to estimate and plan development activities ensuring 
the delivery of high-quality web sites, on-time, on-budget.

 

Additional Qualifications:

·        Desired knowledge of agile software development methodology and 
test-driven programming

·        Experience with clustered application environments for availability 
and scalability

·        Exposure to web and enterprise content management technologies
