Duration: 6 Months** Rate: Keep it Low** * * *Interview in person*** *Candidates must be local or at least in the Midwest*** *Primary Skills:* OS/Unix Experience Linux (red hat or oracle enterprise linux), solaris 9, 10 HP-UX 11.23, 11.31 IBM AIX 5.3, 6.1 *Secondary Skills:* VMware, terminal server management experience, Load balancers, switches, routers, SAN, NAS, RAID, LAN/WAN infrastructure exposure to DMX, VPN The primary responsibilities of the Linux Admin are the planning, deployment, and management of Linux servers in a VMware virtual server environment and the configuration and maintenance of internal and external networks. The IT Director reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at any time. • Perform a wide range of system administration duties on all database, application, and other servers including install, debug, maintain, upgrade, and general support • Perform basic system security administration functions, including user accounts and profiles. • Proactive monitoring of all servers, applications and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA’s • Implementation / management of appropriate backup and recovery process and procedures in line with group global standards. • Creation / modification of scripts and troubleshooting to resolve performance and other issues. • Maintain system documentation and logs as appropriate • Perform/assist in diagnosing production database and environmental issues. • Provide desktop level support for organizational customers with desktop related issues and questions • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies • Coordinate with the rest of the system administration team to meet team objectives • Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures. • Assist in developing, implementing, testing and maintaining server level disaster recovery plans. • Lead or participate in multiple projects in accordance with departmental goals JOB REQUIREMENTS** • Strong OS/UNIX experience Linux (Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux), Solaris 9, 10 HP-UX 11.23, 11.31 IBM AIX 5.3, 6.1 and maintains proficiency in latest versions.** • Hands on systems administration experience across multiple platforms including Intel-based servers** • Hands on Virtualization experience including experience with VMware.** • Terminal server management experience • Experience/Exposure to additional infrastructure components Load Balancers Switches/Routers • Working knowledge of SAN, NAS, RAID and other applicable enterprise storage management experience** • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure Exposure to DMZ configurations Understanding of VPN configurations** • Experience implementing and supporting backup and recovery process, inclusive of Disaster Recovery procedures** • Experience mentoring other team members in areas of personal expertise • Ability to prioritize requests from multiple projects and customer requirements • Strong customer service focus assuring the highest level of customer satisfaction at all times. • Self motivated to take ownership of projects and issues, following through to closure and resolution. • Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS** • Bachelors Degree, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field. ** • 6+ years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment.** * * PHYSICAL DEMANDS The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. • Spends 75% of the time sitting, 20% walking, and 5% standing. • Verbal and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices. • Auditory capacity to detect alarms. • Constant use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery. • Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer equipment.
