Position: Oracle DBA

Job Description : 

 

Company is seeking a, clear-thinking and technically adept Oracle and MS
SQL-Server DBA to administer and enhance our existing enterprise database
solutions while assisting in the deployment of our next generation
solutions. The successful candidate will assume a 24x7 technical /
administrative role in the administration, performance tuning, and
maintenance of the Oracle and SQL-Server environments, as well as assist
with database administration support for all other production and
development Oracle and SQL-Server databases. 

*       The candidate will complement the existing DBA team providing
independent, proactive management of the existing Oracle and SQL-Server
databases (improvements, tuning, overall administration, etc). Will be
expected to take the initiative and proactively identify and
suggest/implement solutions to problems before they become systems
performance impacting issues. Review user/systems support issues and perform
or lead root cause analysis and provide working solutions. The position will
require occasional non-standard/off hours maintenance to resolve issues and
implement system changes in order to minimize downtime for end users. 

 

*       Provide database administrative support to the development team,
which includes, but is not limited to, managing development databases,
tuning SQL, and handling code migrations from development to testing to
production. The candidate must be adept in providing a quality assurance
checkpoint related to SQL efficiency, performance, load and functional fit
prior to its release into production environments. 

Job Requirements : 

- The position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an
Oracle/SQL-Server DBA

- Effective communication skills are critical, both written and oral, and
the capability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a
team. 

- Must be clear thinking, fact-based and to the point. 

- Strong customer service skills are required. 


- Skill requirements include solid knowledge and experience of core DBA
duties and day-to-day Oracle 9i/10g and MS SQL-Server database
administration, such as:

 

*       Responsible for database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance
tuning, high-availability strategies in a 24x7 production environment.
*       Knowledge of Oracle 9i/10g and MS SQL-Server architecture,
installation, configuration, maintenance, and patching procedures.
*       Strong experience writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and
triggers
*       Experience with partitioning, replication, multi-level security,
clustering, distributed transactions, OLTP, OLAP, and XML.
*       Experience with upgrade from previous versions of MS SQL-Server
(2000 and 2005). 
*       Develop and implement replication, archiving and backup and recovery
strategies (DR Failover testing capabilities). 
*       Anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for
Development, Testing, QA, Staging, and Production for scalable database
growth and performance
*       Proactively monitor production databases and optimize stored
procedures for better performance
*       Resolve locking conflicts/blocking and resource utilization
*       Administer, maintain, develop and recommend policies and procedures
for ensuring the security and integrity of the company's databases and
systems
*       Identify and resolve database performance issues, database capacity
issues and other distributed data issues
*       Experience with SQL-Server log shipping, replication and clustering
*       Proficient with recent Oracle database versions (9i and 10g) and
features.
*       Experience with managing Oracle systems on UNIX platform a plus (Sun
Solaris). 
*       Unix shell scripting (sh & ksh required, perl a plus)
*       Experience with Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools like
Grid Control.
*       SQL & PL/SQL performance tuning 
*       User / schema management
*       RMAN backup and recovery 
*       Experience with Oracle Application Server, Weblogic a plus
*       Experience with E-Business/Oracle Financials running on OAS a huge
plus
*       Database systems documentation
