Job Description: Data Center Planning Engineer - This position is responsible for developing and maintaining datacenter space planning. This position exists to fully utilize the critical computer space at the Tempe 1 & 2 and Cassie Hill data centers. This individual must be capable of taking calculated risk with the best interest of the shareholder in mind, make sound decisions in the absence of detailed instruction, implement and maintain management policies, standards and guidelines designed to document, track and forecast space requirements of our most valuable DCM space. Work independent or as part of a multi-talented DCM team, leveraging relationships and cross functional resources for success. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and/or seven to ten years of Data Center team management experience in the financial service arena. Critical Skills needed: Needs experience with data center space planning , Knowledge of data center equipment ( Server, Storage, Network! ) Needs knowledge of mechanical and electrical system and needs to have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, and Visio. Also needs the following competencies: Communicating Effectively , Building Partnerships Across the Organization, Coaching and Developing Others, Focusing on the Customer,Demonstrating Integrity and Personal Excellence. Preferred Skills: Strategic Space Planning -55% . Meet with platform capacity planners, Project Management and Consulting and companion/partnering organizations to understand need and forecast . Formulate space requirements and physical placement plans . Determine needs for additional space and coordinate with Corporate Property group Leadership -5% Portrays maturity within the team be taking initiative in seeking solutions and proactively resolving potential issues. Capable of providing strategic guidance to internal platform planning, implementation teams and vendors. Inspires the cooperation and confidence of others and effectively uses power and influence to insure quality planning, accurate forecasting and strategic focus. Relationship Management -5% Meet frequently with the Corporate Real Estate to ensure linkage, develop approaches and strategies Strategic Environmental Planning -15% Determine environmental impact of strategic physical space plan and collaborate with Corporate Property group in the development and execution of environmental support plans Documentation -15% Accountable for all critical site floor plans, distributed elevations and large systems connectivity documentation Process and Metrics - 5% . Develop and maintain DCM Engineering and Design processes . Perform trend analysis and identify opportunities for improvement .
