The OCIO Voice Services team is seeking a qualified individual to provide application development on Nortel MPS 500 systems with emphasis on speech recognition. 2. This is a short term (6 months to 1 year) assignment. 3. A key in determining a qualified individual to fill this position will be a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain IVR and speech recognition applications on the MPS platform. 4. This individual will also be required to mentor and train State FTE staff in developing applications on the MPS platform. 5. This individual will be responsible for the ongoing development of existing State staff by assisting in establishing coding standards, identifying best practices and conducting both one-on-one and group sessions pertaining to design, testing and implementation of MPS and Nuance applications. ** *Necessary Skills* 1. Expert in medium to large scale speech-enabled applications 2. Nortel IVR (VPS, MPS), Speech recognition, Speaker Verification, Statistical Language Model, TTS Nuance grammars, TTS tuning, Voice UI design best practices 3. VXML, CCXML, Eclipse, Websphere, Jboss, Tomcat, SIP, XML, MySql, Oracle 4. Java, J2EE, Web Service, C, Unix Shell scripts, Perl, JavaScript ** *General Responsibilities * 1. Develop various speech-enabled applications following the full software development life cycle. 2. Responsible for all phases of speech application deployment 3. Speech Specialist in discovery and requirement analysis of the Speech application 4. Create state-of-the art Voice User Interface(VUI) detailed specification document, based on Voice UI best design practices 5. Write speech application codes as well as speech recognition grammars 6. Tune speech applications (analyze transcription result, recommend changes to the dialog and speech grammars for better performance) 7. Perform usability survey & analysis 8. Configure Speech Servers, support speech application deployment. *Grammar Development * 1. Develop and maintain Nuance and OSR grammars 2. Develop and enhance the SpeakFreely Grammar (Statistical Language Model) 3. Tune grammars using internal and external tools for better recognition performance *Speech Application design * 1.
