Software Engineer with expertise with Java and UNIX. Must have prior experience testing and measuring performance of software applications. This is not a QA role. Financial is a plus, just give me a Software Engineer with Java and UNIX with good projects and who has focused on performance of applications! RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with the technical leads and development team to deliver high- quality, repeatable, extendible capacity certifications for our global deployments. • Analyse existing practises, propose and design improvements to the capacity testing process. • Identify, and lead the development of tools to support the initiative. • Lead the execution of the tests to provide capacity certifications for our deployments. DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS The continued buildout of the strategic Middle Office architecture remains a key priority for Operations senior management, as evidenced by the firm’s willingness to invest in the growth of this area over the next several years. The project list for 2010 contains several exciting major builds to migrate more flows onto the strategic platform, to expand coverage into new asset classes, and to integrate with next-generation client connectivity networks. SKILL / EXPERIENCE MANDATORY • A strong and proven track record of capacity and performance analysis and problem solving skills in a high-throughput transactional system. • IT industry experience, involving some hands-on core Java development. • Familiarity with UNIX or UNIX-like operating systems. • Strong verbal and written communication skills given the global nature of the team • Self starter who is highly motivated to excel and take on growing responsibilities PREFERRED • Relevant experience in the financial industry is preferred, but not essential • Understanding of advanced core Java topics – multi-threading, RMI, garbage collection, performance optimizations, etc. • Database skills – SQL, understanding of query optimization, etc. • Exposure to UNIX and Perl scripting please send resumes to kris...@vstconsulting.com.
