Requirement:
The candidate must have multicast experience (e.g. PIM, IGMP) and
protocols like OSPF and BGP.
Preference would be someone who has worked for a Service Provider
Operations.


Expert level relationship management, communications skills and
interpersonal skills to manage face to face communications on a daily basis
with multiple levels of customer management and engineering staff across
multiple departments within the host company in a responsible and
professional fashion.

Expert level troubleshooting methodology to isolate and identify
configuration, design, and software anomalies; ability to clearly articulate
findings in written and verbal communications with development level
engineering staff.

Ability to apply knowledge to real world scenarios.
Understanding of the concepts and guidelines behind traditional routing or
security system design (depending on requirements). Will be asked to provide
internal and external guidance on key customer security issues.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under
pressure.
Self starter, team player, personable, enthusiastic, hard working, and enjoy
interfacing with customers on a day to day basis.
It would be a plus to have hands-on configuration and operational knowledge
of other Vendor products and their operation
The ideal candidate will have 12+ years industry experience working for or
with Tier 1 SPs.  The project is to support the MX960 as a PE router for
direct internet access.  The MX960 will be peering with Cisco routers.
Ideal candidate must have exceptional English writing skills as this
position will be responsible for writing Sprint documentation related to the
project.

new EX switches and MX routers into their environment.
The idea is this person will help technically oversee the deployment.

   Resident Engineer

*Job Description *

Reporting to the Manager of Professional Services, Americas, this is a
highly technical role, providing post-sales on-site support of Junipers
Network Products. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and
maintain an expertise on the products deployed within the Customers network.



*Responsibilities*

This is a 1-year Contract position on-site at the customer location and may
require long work hours. On-site technical support to the Customer may
require the RE:



· To hold design and information gathering workshops with the Customer to
understand the Customer's existing network design and technical requirements
of new network designs.
· To understand the Customer's organizational structure and become familiar
with the Customer's network implementation and support processes and
procedures to help in designing a network that is available and sustainable.
· To carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as
required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop
plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live
network
· To test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they
are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network
and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
· To troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to open and track JTAC
cases through to problem resolution on pre and post production issues.
· To raise equipment Return Material Authorizations (RMA's) and to track
these through to problem resolution
· To produce a written summary report of the status of Design projects,
equipment and network problems on a regular basis to the Customer
· To hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and
network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons
for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are
being tried
· To train the Customer's design, implementation and support personnel to
configure and operate the Juniper Networks products
· To assist the Customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment
Operating Procedures
· Support design and planning of Juniper J-Series, SRX and Netscreen network
security and routing products within the Customer infrastructure
· Support ongoing efforts in defining best practice policies for Juniper
product applications used by Customer
· The Resident Engineer is expected to peer with other employees performing
similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize
risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.



The RE will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products in the
Juniper product portfolio.

*Base Qualifications*

Candidates for this role MUST have a minimum 5 years experience providing
implementation and technical support of security products in LAN, WAN, or
Internet services environments.

Candidates for this role MUST be able to demonstrate the following
competencies:



1) Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of
high-end firewalls and ideally Juniper networks Security products. Experience
with migration, installation, support of J-Series, SRX, NSM and Netscreen
IDP & ISG firewalls.
2) Strong understanding of: DNS, NFS, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP, UDP, and
ARP.
3) Understanding of the concepts and guidelines behind traditional security
system design, JUNOS CLI, IOS CLI and ScreenOS CLI.
4) Strong understanding of security technologies and protocols including:
IPSEC, 802.1Q, SSH, SSL, L2TP, XAUTH, RSA-SecurID, SSL-VPNs, IPS functional
knowledge of protocol anomalies, application vulnerabilities, viruses,
worms, and trojans.
5) Detailed understanding of Routing protocols surrounding IP Service
Provider and/or Enterprise networks including: TCP/IP fundamentals, IP
sub-netting and super-netting IP Multicast and hierarchical routing
principles, Routing protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP-4), VPNs and
the associated tunneling technologies (GRE, IPsec, etc.), network/router
security and common/best practices.
6) Strong understanding of Layer 2 protocols and technologies including:
Ethernet switching, spanning tree (RSTP, MSTP, PVST), CCC, dot 1-Q, VLAN tag
manipulation
7) Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills. Ability to work with
multiple departments within the host company in a responsible and
professional fashion.
8) Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under
pressure.
9) Self starter, team player, personable, enthusiastic, hard working, and
enjoy interfacing with customers on a day to day basis.
10) Hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and operational knowledge of
other Vendor security products and their operation such as Checkpoint,

1) 3+ years experience in managing large technical account activity
revolving around security products from multiple vendors.
