Position: Altiris Consultant 
Location: Downtown Sacramento, CA 
Duration: 4 Business Weeks / 160 hours 
Rate: 70/hr. 
  
  
1.  Qualifications 
The desired expertise/experience for consultant: 
  
·         Minimum of 3 or more years experience in configuring and 
troubleshooting of Altiris Notification Server and Solutions.   
·         Certification or endorsement by Symantec/Altiris. 
·         Minimum of 2 years experience in analyzing a client’s business 
process and translating them into the Altiris Notification Server and Solution 
configurations. 
·         Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical 
staff both verbally and in writing. 
  
2. Scope of Work
  

The Consultant will provide best practices expertise to complete the remaining 
configuration tasks of the Asset Management, Barcode, CMDB and Patch Management 
solutions, as well as any related Notification Server configurations currently 
in production.  
  

The Consultant will also configure and deploy the Service Request business 
process within the Altiris Service Desk currently in production. 
  
The consulting services shall be provided at the Client's office in downtown 
Sacramento, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding 
holidays. This project will require a total of four 4 business weeks (160 
hours) as needed ASAP until hours are exhausted or Friday, May 28, 2010, 
whichever comes first. 
  
Note:  As mandated by the Governor’s Executive Order S-13-09, Client employees 
are required to participate in mandatory furlough days occurring on the first 
three (3) Fridays of each month.  The Department or its staff will not be 
available on these mandatory furlough Fridays. 
  
3. Work to Be Performed
  
The consultant will provide direction and best practices expertise to complete 
the remaining configuration tasks for the Asset Management, Barcode, CMDB and 
Patch Management solutions, as well as any related Nfication Server 
configurations currently in production.  The consultant will fully configure 
and deploy to production the Service Request business process within the 
CLIENT's Service Desk currently in production. 
  

Provide direction and best practices expertise to complete the remaining 
configuration tasks of the Asset Management, Barcode, CMDB and Patch Management 
solutions, as well as any related Notification Server configurations currently 
in production.
  

Review, analyze and provide recommendations for concept for the new Service 
Request business process and Altiris configuration decisions, as well as 
facilitate consensus with any outstanding issues.
  

Review and analyze all current Altiris CLIENT's Service Desk configurations in 
production that manage the Help Desk and BMU Service Request business 
processes, and provide best practices recommendations to integrate ’s Service 
Request business process.
  

Create, configure and appropriately document all new  Service Desk categories, 
queues, workers, rules, nfications, tasks, SLA’s, email distribution groups, 
email templates, etc., along with any and all Worker and WinUser console 
customizations to fully capture and automate the new  Service Desk business 
process in the development environment.
  

Conduct system regression testing to ensure current Altiris CLIENT's Service 
Desk configurations that manage the Help Desk and BMU Service Request business 
processes have retained their integrity following implementation of the new 
Service Request configurations.
  

Conduct a complete walkthrough of the new Service Request configuration with 
staff and obtain user acceptance.
  

Finalize new Service Request configurations in development environment server.
  

Migrate new Service Request configurations to the test environment.
  

Facilitate user testing of the new Service Request business process and modify 
any configuration deficiencies as necessary in the development environment.
  

Obtain final user acceptance of new Service Request business process.
  

Provide new Service Request configuration documentation.
  

Deploy new Service Request business process to the production environment.
