Role: Microsoft SQL Server ETL Architect Role

Position description:
This position will be responsible for providing enterprise solutions to
existing and new technical/business processes that utilize SQL Server
technologies for monitoring, maintenance, backup/recovery, data
movement/conversion, and reporting concepts including SSRS and SSAS. This
individual will also be responsible for collaborative work efforts with
various Information Management/IT teams to deliver timely and effective
solutions that correspond with Radian's enterprise architecture direction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
. Assist with the review, approval, and implementation of business
requirements for data management and movement.
. Perform data conversion, quality and verification activities
commensurate with established data governance and quality policies.
. Identify areas and opportunities for improvement of data warehouse
and operational data stores ETL processes using SSIS and other data movement
technologies.
. Ensure database uptime meets defined service level agreements
through the design and implementation of a monitoring strategy for the SQL
Server database environment.
. Guide team members using industry standards and best practices to
position Radian's SQL Server environment, assist in developing standards and
processes for SQL Server RDBMS creation, deployment, and production support
to meet current and future demands.
Qualifications:
. 5+ years of experience in a Microsoft SQL Server architect role
where the candidate has been responsible for management of the SQL Server
infrastructure and provided direction for activities that may include RDBMS
to MSSQL conversion, maturing and growing an existing SQL Server
environment, and recommending SQL Server technologies for data movement and
data conversion.
. 7+ years experience and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
(2000/2005/2008) RDBMS production environments including monitoring,
maintenance, tuning, performance, and capacity management.
. 3+ years experience and knowledge of Oracle (10g) RDBMS production
environments including monitoring, maintenance, tuning, performance, and
capacity management.
. Knowledge of efficient data movement tools (Informatica, SSIS) used
to move moderate to large collections of data to and from various sources.
Ability to design and implement data movement and conversion strategies
influenced by release constraints and aggressive conversion timelines.
. Experience profiling data that is sourced from multiple
applications including Microsoft Access.
. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to
write both technical and non-technical documentations to be understood and
read by all levels within the organization.
. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to understand
and translate requirements into technical design. Ability to
assimilate/understand business processes and subsequent impact to
conversion.
Education/training preferences:
. BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical/business degree
. At least 7 years of experience in a mid-level management (or top
tier consultative) position with several direct reports, full administrative
authority, preferably with P/L responsibilities, and the ability to hire and
terminate associates in accordance with firm's policies.
. Graduate / Advanced degree desirable, but not required
