Title : Microsoft FAST Engineer Location : Denver, CO Duration : 6 Months Job Description: - Review and recommendations for Application Architecture: - Initial application installation and creation of standards - Environment Overviews and Definition create a standard definition of usage for each environment - Application Configuration - Document Feeding and Processing - Indexing Configuration - Search Configuration - Hardware Configuration (specific for FAST) - Operating System Configuration (specific for FAST) - Supporting Network and Infrastructure(specific for FAST) - Create and document process for code promotion - Provide recommendations for Application Monitoring: - FAST Application Monitoring - FAST Internal URL Monitoring - Content Feeding Monitoring - Roles and responsibilities for errors related to document errors in the feeding process - Provide recommendations for Operations procedures: - Remote access procedures and set-up - Change Control - Content feeding - Backup/recovery procedures - System maintenance and management plans - Processes and methodology for cold and hot index updates - Operational processes and testing (backups/failover/recovery etc) - Validate and help create definition of roles and responsibilities (business, dev, operations, search administrator) - Provide recommendations for Performance testing and capacity planning - Provide recommendations communication procedures - Provide recommendations for Reporting and Usage - Provide recommendations and instructions for application level security (SBC, Admin Console) - Manage search admin functions in test/stage/prod environments - Deliver Project Runbook to include all of above REQUIRED SKILLS: - Microsoft FAST / SharePoint / Development - A minimum 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field or work experience equivalent, - Past consulting experience as the individual will often be acting in a consulting role and as a technical advisor, - The ability to articulate solutions to such diverse constituencies as project managers, clients, business stakeholders and engineers, and to coordinate (with both project management and engineering) major systems events such as application upgrades, launches, load tests and deployments, - A willingness to learn new technologies and their applications in the enterprise, - The ability to quickly understand and be able to articulate business impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific business problems through the effective use of technology. - The ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design documentation, and manuals.
