Title : Senior Oracle DBA Location : NH Locals Only Duration : 6+ Months Job Description: Looking for a Senior Application Oracle DBA with very strong SQL tuning, SQL wait events and large data sets experience. This is going to be a Leadership role. The position requires a Database Administrator with strong physical data modeling, development and SQL tuning skills in order to support various database initiatives within the Investment Management division. Responsibilities: * Perform applications database administration functions including SQL tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and developer support * Expertise with large data sets, data movement, partitioning, shell scripting and PL/SQL development * Work with development teams in database design process and make suggestions/recommendations based on data manipulation needs of the application * Provide database support in all phases of SDLC * Work with other people in the team to come up with solutions in line with group's standards * Position requires 7X24 on call rotation schedule for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs * Interface with Operations Database group, Systems Administrators and Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands * Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds * Project coordination and planning * Evaluation and recommendation of software products in database management arena * Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time * Self motivated with strong team and interpersonal skills * Must have strong SQL tuning skills, doing large data sets and evaluate and trace. Must know wait based SQL tuning. * Must be available to travel to Boston 2 days a week, may be more in the beginning. * There is also a shared on-call support Skills: * 8+ years of Oracle DBA/Development experience * Extensive experience with wait-based SQL tuning * Skills in PL/SQL, Shell scripting, Job Scheduling like Autosys * Experience in data modeling tool eg.
