We know that innovation and creativity come from many sources. And
nowhere else is that more true than on the thousands of university
campuses around the world. Students are the future of software
development. Sun is fostering the opportunity for student developers
to harness that innovation and creativity by sponsoring an
international Solaris 10 University Challenge. This Challenge will run
from November 16, 2005 to June 10, 2006.
To participate you must be a registered student or graduate student,
faculty or university IT staff at an accredited university or academic
institution. At the time of entry, you must be the age of majority in
your country, province or state and a resident of the fifty United
States and the District of Columbia, the United Kingdom, India, China,
Japan, Korea, Germany, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, France,
Russia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Indonesia.*

the Contest Period by completing the online registration form. Student
or Staff participants must also have their faculty advisor/professor
or supervisor, complete and submit online a participant acknowledgment
form. Your faculty advisor/professor or supervisor will automatically
receive the acknowledgment form once you register.

Solve a customer problem using Solaris 10 or OpenSolaris. Use your own
design ideas or check out some of our project ideas . Either way, you
could win big.
One individual or one team of up to four individuals from the same
university will be awarded the Grand Prize - US$5,000 prize purse per
individual, plus a Sun Ultra 20 Workstation. The winner's university
will receive a credit with a retail value of US$100,000 good towards
the purchase of Sun Microsystems products including Sun Fire x64
systems and UltraSPARC processor-based systems.
