Greetings from UgaBYTES... Plans for the fifth East African Telecentre Leaders Forum (EATLF) have been completed. The event will take place in the Sudan's Gadaref City from 1st to 4th May 2008. The EATLF is a knowledge sharing platform for Eastern African countries that occurs twice a year. It is hosted by different regional countries on a rotational basis focusing on different themes. >>Call for participation Invitation is open, for participation until April 7th 2008. The 5th EATLF venue has been strategically selected to allow easy and strong participation from Eastern African and Mid East countries including; Somalia, Ethiopian, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi. Other countries outside the region that have so far registered representation include Canada, South Africa and Mozambique. In the previous four events participants have come from Chile, Canada, USA, UK, Sweden, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda including both practitioner and development partners. >>Registration Registration fee is US$ 90 for Eastern African participants and US$ 150 for participants from other countries. Self sponsored participants; please note that full board accommodation has been negotiated to US$ 130 per day. But limited places are available for early registrants. The event will be preceded by a two weeks online session between April 7th and 22nd 2008, which will be open for global participation. The event will also have side-by-side exhibition of telecentre work, new technology and regional service providers' products.
