Position : ENGINEER, ADVISORY _ Senior Telecommunications Engineer Location : TX Period : 6 months *Job Description * *This position is for 3 varying openings with the same technical requirements: * 1. Asia Pac VoIP& 2. Retail VoIP - Verizon Business Retail Voice over IP offering 3. IPCC - Verizon Business Retail Voice over IP Contact Center offering Telephony and Applications Services Planning (TASP) are seeking a Voice over IP design engineer to aid in the design and development of the Verizon Business Retail Voice over IP offering. The engineer will be required to perform three primary tasks - 1) interact with Product Development & Marketing and other engineering / IT teams to gather requirements, 2) Develop High Level and Low Level Design documentation and 3) Interact with the lab and field support teams to ensure these designs are tested and rolled to production. The engineer will need to have knowledge of voice networks and specifically of Voice over IP and the Session Intiation Protocol (SIP). In particular, the engineer will need to know the SIP protocol well enough to document specific call flows and aid in troubleshooting lab and field issues. In addition to these responsibilities and skills, the engineer should also have knowledge of Broadsoft including the system architecture and provisioning hierarchy Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible factors. Exercises judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Typically leads complex projects and directs the work of lower level engineers. Incumbent plans and carries out work independently and uses own initiative and judgment to handle non-routine matters and ambiguous issues. Normally receives only general instructions on new or more complex assignments. Decisions are made independently and are acted upon by self and others. Responsible for establishing operating guidelines or methods for others. Provides technical guidance to lower level staff and may lead project team(s).
