If you don't mind it being commercial software, Lyris Listmanager (http://www.lyris.com) is pretty good. We use it here specifically for the ease in which it integrates with perl.
You could also roll your own list server using something like Net::SMTP::Server. I searched tucows and google but no luck :( My idea was to create some input filter for sendmail which forwards all mails incoming to group addresses to my special script which handles the rest. Has anyone maybe some hints, no-no's or gotcha's which i should consider before making project like this?
