Do you mean for direct output 
[% a; b; c; %]
or are you wanting something like the following?
[%#(this doesn't work) SET v = "blah = " . blah %]

Is there a case you have where [% SET blah = "$blah$append" %] doesn't work?

Are you asking something else?
