Andy Wardley noted in recent emails that he had removed the Latex plugin from the core Template Toolkit distribution, and that he had created a new Template-Latex distribution.

I have agreed to take over the maintenance of the Template-Latex distribution. I have uploaded version 2.16 of Template-Latex (as prepared by AW) to CPAN. There is a subversion repository at:

   svn://svn.tt2.org/Template-Latex/

We will keep discussion of the Latex plugin on the main Template Toolkit mailing list initially. I want to put together a wish-list of developments to the plugin To start with I have an old patch to make more of LaTeX's capabilities available, i.e. to get the latex filter to run bibtex and makeindex on a LaTeX document if necessary and to re-run latex if latex issues warnings about unresolved symbols. I will add that to the wish-list and also my concerns about the security implications of allowing templates to specify program paths.

I would like to hear from people who are actively using the latex filter with any suggestions and comments.

Regards
Andrew
