Hi Bill, I must admit I'm stumped on this, although I haven't really had time to give it the attention it deserves. My best guess (finger-waving in the air) is that something in Template::Provider or the Template::Context that calls it is not resetting its internal error value properly. First time round the error gets flagged. Second time round it works, but something is latched onto the old error code and reports a failure when in fact everything worked OK. I'll put it on my TODO list of things to look at. If you have any other insights/observations in the meanwhile, do let me know.
