OK, found it: On fedora16, the "smart" bash completion crap
is apparently enabled by default. You could try editing
/etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh and comment out the
line that does ". /etc/bash_completion" then log out
and back in again and see if completion is back to being
dumb and useful instead of "helpful" and useless.
