As you say - if you will remove an existing rescue kernel and its initrams just before installing a new kernel then a rescue will be "refreshed" from the one you are now installing. Assuming that you installed required dracut support and you do not have 'dracut_rescue_image="no"' in your dracut configuration. This actually worked wherever I tried.
