I am currently working on various modern implementations of spinlock algorithms. This includes various queue and hierarchical queue spinlock algorithms. This is not associated with a specific OpenSolaris project, but will result in interesting research results as well as open-source implementations of much neglected spinlock algorithms (and modifications using various backoff techniques). I would like to use the machine in order to gather performance measurements from a NUMA machine (with much more apparent NUMA characteristics). I will be implementing, tuning and optimizing a wide array of spinlock algorithms. Based on the resultant performance I will then be researching, designing and implementing a reactive spinlock algorithm suited for large shared-memory multi-processor machines.
