Booting from backup operating system only works if the laptop has been upgraded using olpc-update to a later version.
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Cheat_codes says "Note that laptops are shipped without an alternate image; they won't have an alternate image until after first OS update is performed. (The alternate image will then be the previous image that you were running, e.g., if your laptop shipped with Build 650 and you updated to Build 656, the alternate boot image is Build 650. If you update again to Build 703, the alternate boot image becomes Build 656.)" I've tested this just now on an XO-1.5 that was updated via internet from os114 to os115, and it functions well. Note that once you use this feature, the older operating system will continue to be used until you use the feature once more. Also, olpc-update is not currently available to use for XO-1 against builds in the 8.2.2 series, such as os802b5. So if it was an XO-1 you were testing against, it won't work yet. -- James Cameron http://quozl.linux.org.au/ _______________________________________________ Testing mailing list [email protected] http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/testing
