It sounds like 5 of the 6 XO-1's do not have their Developer Keys
properly installed. If so, you need to install the developer key custom to each of those 5 XO-1 laptops: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activation_and_developer_keys#Getting_devkey_data_via_USB_stick http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activation_and_developer_keys#What_to_do_when_you_receive_your_activation_or_developer_keys Step 6 above is the fundamental step that makes this happen: The XO searches for /security/develop.sig on any media (not just the internal NAND). As of recent builds, there is no longer any visual indication that the XO found a developer key in the normal boot graphics. You can check whether the developer key was accepted by entering the OFW prompt by pressing Escape key (at the upper left, marked Then the Esc key will then give you an OK prompt immediately after turning on the computer. Proceed with the 10 steps at bottom here, under "Development builds" : http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Clean-install_procedure#Development_builds Dhanushka Nuwan wrote:
