As some have noted already the number of cards has the base 2. FWIW, I
use Memory in my class quite often and so far no learner has been
confused by the simplification we use in the view.
As Mitch suggested one could use as well placeholders cards. But imagine
you have 11 Pairs and select a 5x5 grid. You would need 3 placeholders
cards. I do think that can be more confusing.
