A conference call was held Thursday, June 20th to discuss the Testing and Certification white paper changes. The following is a synopsis of what the group decided. This was really the only topic discussed during the call.
* The group decided to make a recommendation that certification vendors form some type of consortium to ensure that guidelines and rules put out to customers are consistent with the guides and also consistent between each vendor. This would help to ensure a more smooth and uniform implementation. * We also want to make a recommendation in the paper in favor of certification. We decided to add a section at the beginning of the paper titled "Definition of Terms". In that section, certification will be defined as an independent 3rd party assessment of compliance. For example, if one uses a Sybase translator in house for their internal testing, we are recommending they use a different product to certify that their incoming and outgoing transactions are compliant (e.g., HIPAA Validator, CLAREDI, EDIFECS, or some other tool not used in internal testing). This becomes paramount in your compliance efforts since there is not an agency to certify the certifiers. The thought process is that if you can successfully test through 2 separate tools, your implementation should be successful and you should have success with your trading partners. * John Lilleston will make the suggested updates to the white paper and send out to the group by Monday, July 1st. Please review the paper once again and bring any comments to the next meeting. * Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 11th at 11 a.m. eastern time (because July 4th is a holiday). We will hold meetings every other Thursday moving forward. The following meeting will be July 25th. Thanks!!
