SNIP Transaction Testing Sub Work Group

Meeting Minutes

September 19, 2002

Conference # (703)736-7290 Pass Code 1315339

Minutes:

List Server Etiquette:

The SWG was reminded that when using the WEDI listserves we should be keeping our comments to the point, refraining from using informal or unprofessional phrases and innuendoes. Misuse or complaints from other members could result in being removed by WEDI from the listserve.

Agree on Transactions Receiving S. Lazarus Comments: The Testing and Certification White Paper is nearing final approval. The group received comments from Steve Lazarus during the final review for consideration. After considerable review it was determined that the comments were more appropriate for other SNIP products. The comments will be sent to the Translation and Business Work Groups; however the material will be considered during the next revision of the Business to Business White Paper.

Phoenix Panel Discussions: The Testing Work Group presentation scheduled in Chicago will be held in Phoenix. All presenters have confirmed their participation. The presentation team will review a list of questions to consider for the meeting.

Business to Business White Paper: In preparation for the next version of the Business to Business White Paper, an e-mail will be sent out to this List Server inviting participation. A major topic in the next meeting is to review this work.

Test Data Technical Scenarios Status: Spreadsheets indicating different testing scenarios for the Dental Claim (837D) will be distributed to Claredi to create test data. It also was announced that the Institutional Claim (837I) spreadsheets are almost completed. The group is targeting test data completion for these transaction sets before the Phoenix meeting.

Conversations were held concerning the Web link location and promotion of the test data. The group agreed that a Phoenix WEDI presenter should present and demonstrate the link. Sue Ryder will work with the Training group to educate WEDI SNIP members on its availability as well as discussing where to put the test data on the WEDI SNIP web site. Sue will e-mail suggestions that were made on web location.

Test Data Repository: A number of companies volunteered to host the test data repository. Discussion followed on how to distribute out the test data logically among the volunteers. There is concern of the amount of test data that has been contributed through the existing process as well as concern about protecting contributors from liability. An attorney has reviewed the existing wording. Several volunteers on the call will test the waters using their internal legal staff and report back to the group. If a contributing company has a concern, it is suggested that the company review wording it internal legal staff.

Since many health care organizations are entering into the test stages, it is important for the industry to have a strong test data repository. These concerns will be brought up at the next co-chair meeting. Claredi volunteered to hand over their test scenario work to other companies that would like to own this process or work with other companies that would like to participate.

Agenda Items for next meeting:

Review of Business to Business Paper

Discussion of Test Data Repository

Next Meeting: will be held October 3 at 11 a.m. eastern time. Call-in number for the meeting is +1.703.736.7290 pin 1315339.
