November WEDI SNIP Summit in Phoenix John wanted to remind everyone that presentations are due to Kristin Becker by 10/25 to be included in the conference handouts. Also, bios are overdue to Kristin and that each person participating in the panel/presentation should have received a form to sign to allow the session to be recorded and put to CD Rom. Please return those forms to the fax number on the form ASAP. John will send a copy of the form to Ed Hafner who had not received one. Test Scenarios Sue stated that the dental test scenarios were delivered to Kepa. Kepa and Jeff from Claredi said that the finished scenarios should be available in the next few days on Claredi's web site. Kepa asked if one of the other testing tool vendors would like to run the files through their tools and then post the results on the site. Ed Hafner said he would check with his people. If he is not able to do this, Kepa will run these through his validator and post the results. There are approximately 2800 dental files that will be generated. John stated that the institutional scenarios are nearly complete. Scenarios have been completed up through page 396 of the guide. Mark Charles has been assigned pages 397-439. Brandi Wyatt and Paul Root volunteered to split the rest of the guide. John will email each of them with their assigned part. Kepa asked that we ensure that the instructions he distributed be followed when completing these scenarios. John will review the spreadsheet to investigate if we have followed the instructions. Sue then gave an update as to her request to CMS to post Medicare business scenarios on our web sites. She sent an email to her CMS rep but has yet to get a response. She will keep us posted. Business to Business Paper Brandi Wyatt will follow up on the email from Rich Maere about the possible overlap of effort between what we are trying to do with the companion documents piece of the B2B paper. Once she does that, we should be able to move forward on our survey on best practices on business to business testing. We may be able to work together with the other group or use what they have previously developed. Per our previous meeting, we decided to identify some of the terms in the B2B paper that we need to further define in a "Key Terms" section of the paper. The group agreed we should define business to business testing, companion guides (along with implications to companion guides in the final rule, the "should/should nots" in the implementation guides, and the pros and cons of using companion guides), application testing, and partner-specific edits. The group also suggested that we should add a few paragraphs to the B2B paper to attempt to tie together the Testing and Certification Paper, the Business to Business Testing Paper, and the Front End Edits paper. Please review the Business to Business Paper on the SNIP web site prior to the next meeting and let us know of any other terms you think need further definition. Also, it was suggested that the group read the Front End Edits paper in order to incorporate some of those ideas. A new version of the Front End Edits paper is about to be released and John Lilleston will request a copy of that paper from Peter Barry. John will distribute to the group when he receives it. Miscellaneous The group suggested that we hold a pre-Phoenix conference call with those members who are presenting or who are on the panel in order to review what we will discuss. This should help ensure that everyone is comfortable with their piece of the discussion and that we present a united message to those in attendance. John will follow up with Mark Charles, Sunny Singh, and Dr. Kovac to see if October 23rd at 1:30 eastern time is a good time for everyone. Other times suggested were the 24th and 25th at 1:30 eastern time. We then continued a discussion from the last meeting concerning interpretations of the implementation guide rules. Kepa stated that Rich Landon of the BCBS Association is starting up a group to document and suggest resolutions to these issues. Brandi Wyatt will try to find further information as to meeting times, etc. and get back with the group. At that point we will decide what type of interaction that the Testing SWG should have with this group. At one point in the call, someone from the Institute of Medicine asked a question about the testing scenarios. The group was very glad to have you on the call and would like to encourage your participation in our workgroup. We could definitely use your help in defining terms, etc. for our white papers.
