Or (under *nix, but we are on the teTeX list anyway) with pdfthumb,
which is in the PPower4 libraries, if you use the Java2 version.
This does not need extra macros in pdftex, as thumbpdf does.
Look for "pdfthumb" or "thumbnails" on
