Dear Cornelius,

You are wrong, when you say that MusiXTeX can't typeset `transposing' wind instruments! Daniel did it for us. Look at his manual, p. 57 where the macro \setsign is defined.

The first measure of the Symphony no 39 of Mozart shows you how to proceed:
