I have yet to get around to doing a full install of MusixTeX on OS X, but my regular LaTeX installation was a snap to install and works fine, and X11 comes with 10.3 (and is a free download and simple install otherwise). I use emacs with TeXshop and it works well. I can't imagine there will be any problems using OS X to typeset music, but right now it is simpler for me to keep using my main Unix server.
