A complete new edit of the musixtex manual is available at http://icking-music-archive.org/software/mxdoc109d.pdf
In section 3.14.2 this matter is discussed in great detail. It is indeed very complicated. Rather than try to summarize it right here, I suggest reading that section if you the full story on clefs in musixtex. I haven't recently compared this writeup with what's in the older version of the manual, but I trust the newer one is clearer. --Don Simons ---- Andre Van Ryckeghem <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I think the clefs are given to an instrument and not to a staff (altough an > instrument of 1 staff exists), and the numbering of the instruments starts > from 1. > In that case the argument can be a number (ie instrument 2) or the number of > (there are 2 instruments), the arg is still the same in both cases. > The number 0 cannot be used. setting the violin clef must be done with > \setclef10 or \setclef1\treble (= treble clef on instrument 1). > I think the staffs are never numbered ( one use previous staff or next > staff). > The MusixTeX manual is not very clear in that.
