Last lines of PMX code:

============================
\mtxZchar{10}{4.}\ a2 g2 f0 of Rr
 /

% Coded by M-Tx
============================
[Each line ends with 0D 0A (CR-LF)]

Last lines of generated TeX:

=============================
\pnotes{5.66}\Fermataup{'e}\wh{`f}\en%
\setrightrepeat\endpiece
\vfill\eject\endmuflex
\bye
=============================
[Again each line ends with CR-LF]

For the .mtx, I copied from the email and pasted into Gswin32, then saved,
and yes, you guessed it, lines end in CR-LF.

I'm not sure how any of the programs know when they come to the end of the
file.
