The *listings* package <https://ctan.org/pkg/listings> allows processing LaTeX
within source code comments (option *texcl*. See section 4.3.13 of the
documentation
<https://mirror.koddos.net/CTAN/macros/latex/contrib/listings/listings.pdf>).
When using this option, all comments are rendered incorrectly, regardless of
whether they contain LaTeX commands or not.
I've attached a sample *ex.tex* which showcases the issue, as well as the
generated HTML/CSS files (using _htlatex ex_) and the generated PDF (using
_pdflatex ex_) for comparison
