I don't think it worked in the past, because handling of these elements was
always in this way. The only change is that we now have the HTML parser, so

Well, I did compile it OK. Here is the web page, I have not updated
in since may 2022

And you can see it is working there and the HTML shows no /> if
you view the source code, you could see that.

I did not touch this file since then. I am just now going over
old parts of the tree and recompiling things when I found this.

But no big deal. I changed the code to add /> and all working now.
