Howdy Texas Cavers!

Grotto meeting this Wednesday!!!

Ben Hutchins will be sharing photos and stories from the amazing cave trip to
Guatemala he and company had over spring break 2014.

The meeting, hosted by the University Speleological Society, is at 7:45pm in
Painter 4.42. Follow this link to a map of where the building is located on the
University of Texas campus: http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/pai.html

For information on Underground Texas Grotto activities, please

Before the meeting, take advantage of Sao Paulo www.saopaulos.net for happy
hour specials. Attendance by cavers varies but this area is the best place to
park and meet folks walking over to the meeting. Then after the USS meeting,
we continue with the decades long tradition to reconvene for burgers, beer, and
tall tales ofcaving at Posse East. www.posse-east.com

Saw on the news tonite that the man who has been trapped in the German cave for
nine days is beginning his trip out. Found this article online
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2654376/German-rescuers-reach-man-trapped-one-Europes-difficult-caves-1-000m-underground-freeing-days.html
Apparently he's doing somewhat better and can walk with help. On the video they
were carrying him on a stretcher. I think he may have to move on his own, if he
can, in narrow passageways.

Hello Cavers!

Everyone is invited to the Greater Houston Grotto meeting tomorrow,
Tuesday,June 17 at the Texas Rock Gym (1526 Campbell Road, Houston TX
77055). We have presentations and pictures from several trips/events over
the last couple of months--TSA convention, a Robber Baron "family day"
trip, and since we're saving the best for last, the TAG trip that several
of our members took in late May. We'll have video/pictures from several
pits, starting with the TAG classic Neversink, and going from there. Don't
miss it!

As always, we have a pre-meeting dinner (at this one we'll be celebrating
our youngest member's birthday--Lyndon's daughter Emma just turned one year
old!) This month we are eating at 6pm at Bistro Vietnamese Noodle Grill.
1045 Blalock Road Houston TX 77055
713-468-7467

Also, for the first month in quite awhile, GHG is having an after meeting
social! Drinks will start around 9:30ish at:Nikki's Irish Pub. 10885 Katy
Freeway, Houston TX 77079

Out of town cavers who are around are SO invited! We love our drop ins
(hint, hint Charles) :)

See you there!

Mallory Mayeux
GHG Chair

--- Begin Message --- Hot off the press, softbound copies of AMCS Activities Newsletter 37 will be for sale at the UT Grotto meeting tomorrow night for $18. Bring money; I'll have change for twenties. 160 pages, color illustrations throughout.

If you would buy a hardbound copy for $28, please wait. They should be here before the following meeting. We sell them pretty much at cost, and we need to unload the minimum order of 25. -- Bill Mixon, AMCS editor

I have been a Cricket wireless customer for several years, and found their
mediocre service to fit my needs, but not my wants.

In the past 2 months, their service has become drastically worse.

The old Cricket way of doing business was secretly swept under the rug, and
there is a new crappier company using the name Cricket.

Every cellphone user needs to avoid this new Cricket Wireless at all cost.
If you are an old customer, you need to find a new service by December, as
your recently bought phone will not work.

This company is disguised to look like a poor man's AT&T, however, they
have blocked tethering on all their phones, cut the # of Gb in half,
charging outrageous fees for going over 5Gb, no more free music, no more
financial options to pay bill, and a poor selection of new phones, no
SIM-card phones, etc, etc. And the customer service is close to none.
