Cavers, I am running another Punkin Cave survey expedition the weekend
of 2-4 December. I have nearly a full contingent, but upon looking over
the roster, I find that I am short qualified sketchers (and therefore,
team leaders). If you are a good sketcher in crazy three dimensional
boneyard maze and vertically competent, let me know. I can fit 2-3 more
good sketchers in on this trip if you are interested in attending.
Thanks.

--- Begin Message --- Krause Springs is a beautiful spring/waterfall/swimming hole on a cypress lined creek about 30 miles west of Austin, off Hwy 71 near Spicewood. The 1982 and 1983 Texas Caver Reunions were held there. It's also been the venue for a small gathering of archeologists known as the Sometimes Annual, Official Bodacious Prewitt Conference, which just completed its 37th year in August. (TCR held its 34th in October, not at Krause Springs). Quite a few cavers and archeology types have attended both, or have been to Krause Springs on their own. If you haven't, it's worth seeing when you're in the Austin area. When you're there, maybe say thanks to the memory of owner Elton Krause, who died Nov 15 at age 88.

A Google search for Krause Springs images will show you what it's like in good years. The waterflow and greenery are probably way down now because of the drought.

Wow!

There's a lot of caving going on!

Not just this weekend, with a crew in the TAG area, but, also in December!

Please mark your calendars on Saturday, December 3rd, for either the Longhorn
Project weekend, or the DFW Spring Creek Cave Trip, the Punkin Survey trip
where sketchers are desperately needed (email Crash at [email protected], if
you can help), and the Gov't Canyon monthly project (email Marvin Miller at
[email protected], if interested).

As far as the Longhorn Caverns SP Project goes, we will have a dual pronged
effort that weekend.

· We will continue work on the Lovers Lane area (bring wheelbarrows,
shovels, and buckets if you have 'em!).

· We will also have a crew digging down in Lumbago Alley on a promising
lead that may add more passageway to the existing cave.

Overnight camping will be available and supper will either be at the Maxican in
beautiful downtown Burnet or at that institution of fine down home dining, The
Bluebonnet Café, in marvelous Marble Falls.

Or you can rough it at the campground.

We also will be having an informal meeting establishing the groundwork needed
to launch the non-profit group Friends of Longhorn Caverns. Kudos to Julia
Germany for taking the bull by the horns and getting this effort researched!

Please check the TSA calendar for more info or give me a shout if you're
interested or have any questions.

If you plan on helping out on the 3rd , please let me know when you plan on
coming and what your interest and area of expertise is, so we can schedule
accordingly.

Thanks and hope to see you there or caving somewhere!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and work off those calories next weekend by
getting underground!

Mark

I am in need of a pressure washer for a few weeks, to clean up the new
house and outbuildings. Before I went out and bought one, I thought I
would check here to see if anyone has one that I could borrow. Gas
powered would be better than electric, but I can cope. Reply off-list,
please. Thanks!
