Cavers,

Our next scheduled second Wednesday work session of the Texas Speleological
Survey will be this Wednesday, June 12th, at the JJ Pickle Research Center. Dr.
We will be looking through the files for various cave locations in Texas and
filing USGS maps. Come by and help search the files for cave data. If you have
a desire to search for your own data, the files and unpublished maps will be
made available.

Use the front entrance on Burnet Road north of highway 183. Both publication
sales and the library will be open. The door will be open at 5:00 p.m. and stay
open till we adjourn. Remember it is best to arrive before 6:00 pm and drinks
are on me. Parking permits are only necessary during the day and evenings are
free, so don’t worry about parking tickets.

If you have questions, please contact me at ronra...@austin.rr.com or call my
cell. I will be happy to send you a link to the map of the Campus if you need
directions.

I have one of his old sleeping bags stapled against my bedroom wall as
sound-absorption batting.
I ended up with it when Ann Murphree gave it to me to give back to him -
but I think he said he didn't need it.
I'm not quite sure - exactly. That was over a decade ago and for whatever
reason I never got rid of it.
It's fitting that it's striped. It matches the keyboard which it hangs
over. This is the second residence where I've used it in the same fashion.
I've wondered for some time what became of Dave. Very sad to hear he's gone
- without an answer.

Many of the people I highly respect are not on Facebook . I wish to extend
an invitation to all. My 58th birthday will be a bash. It will be in
Palacios Texas, a small town on Matagorda Bay. we have a large camping area
next to my abode . It has a catch and release Bass lake and is walking
distance to the Matagorda Bay shore, HEB houses it's shrimping fleet here
and there are no finer shrimp to be found right off the boats in the $3.50
range. we also have 3 bed and breakfasts and a really cool historical
hotel. At my place we have an open air bar, 3 smoker cookers and some cool
but Republican locals. I invite all to attend but for a head count please
email me at feliciavreel...@gmail.com. I miss cavers terribly and wold even
love someone to bring slides. The party official is Saturday the 20th of
July but arrivals on friday are welcome. My phone number is 979-318-0045.
Fishing is great, there are some cool beaches and the town is only 5000
people so it is quiet and wonderful.
I hope some of you can make it. If you have kayaks bring them with fishing
poles!

Folks,

Here is the link to a nice article that appeared in the San Antonio Express
News today (Tuesday, June 11, 2013). This was a trip to Seco Creek (Valdina
Farm) Sinkhole in Medina County. The reporter (Colin McDonald) did a very nice
job on discussing some aquifer issues and reporting on the cave. David Ochel
was in a picture in the front page above the fold. He also had a nice quote.
Gary Franklin also got a nice picture in the paper on page 7. I think the paper
had about 12 photos on their web site. Here is a list of everyone that
participated. Many many thanks to everyone that worked hard on this project.

Hi Geary,

Unfortunately, unless you're a digital subscriber to the paper, you can't
access the whole article, but you can look at some really nice pictures. Thanks
for sending it along.
