I am happy to announce that we will be doing the Chuck Steum Award again this year at TCR! Six new cavers will be receiving the award at the evening festivities on Saturday, October 20th, 2011. These new cavers are very active in their grotto and the caving community and I am excited to see them acknowledged for their contributions.
The award is named after Raymond Chuck Stuehm (pronounced “Steam”) who was a member of several Grottos in the San Antonio area and was especially good at guiding, working with, and encouraging new cavers. Chuck's memory is honored every time a new, exceptionally exuberant caver receives this award. The Chuck Steum Award Requirements: Each Grotto recommends one new caver who shows enthusiasm about caving (less than 2 years caving). The award is one year's membership to the TSA (Texas Speleological Association), a shiny certificate suitable for framing, and public recognition at the main TCR Gathering.
